But I do have a list of songs to listen to when you think that there's nothing else in the world for you. I'm not exactly famous, so I don't get my own iTunes playlist that cool people can buy. But hey, it's a start.

Songs in order of listening :

Bjork - Hyberballad : An incredibly beautiful song with a great modern beat. Her voice just sounds completely amazing here, and the lyrics are theraputic.

Say Hello - Deep Dish : It's new, it reeks of late 90s/early 2000s candy trance, but it makes me feel better inside for some reason.

Father Figure - George Michael : I don't know why this song makes me feel good. It smacks of child molestation, but the seductive nature always makes this one a favorite of mine.

Blasphemous Rumors - Depeche Mode : OK, so I can only pick one song from "Some Great Reward". This is my favorite next to "Lie To Me". After 2 failed marriages, I think I'm gonna listen to this whole CD a lot more.

Criminal - Fiona Apple : I think I like this because it's what I feel my soon-to-be-ex-wife should be singing. Then again, maybe I'm just looking in the mirror. If you haven't seen the video, it's fantastic. Everyone needs a weekend to get strung out like that.

Rocket Man - Elton John : I rarely travel for business, but every time I hear this song I envision myself as some sort of jetsetting hubbie that's traveling the world for his wife. A feel good song indeed.

In Too Deep - Genesis : I totally feel like this right now. I so badly want my marriage to work, but it just won't. And as FFTVS will testify, I'm am in waaaaay too fucking deep.

Morrissey - Boxers : Morrissey's voice is something you either love or hate. Regardless, he IS the greatest lyricist of all time. Period. Listen to this song, and if you still disagree, look up the lyrics to "There Is A Light That Never Goes Out" by The Smiths. If you don't think that's a terriffic allegorical love song, then you just suck.

Policy of Truth - Depeche Mode : I am the worst person in the world at hiding my feelings, thoughts and emotions. And everytime I reveal too much of myself, I listen to this song. I think this song should be standard listening fare to anyone who is in a relationship for more than a day and a half.

New Deep - John Mayer : When life turns to shit, you listen to John Mayer. Even if you're someone crazy like the lead singer of Anthrax. I think this song will become my new anthem.

Express Yourself - Madonna : Gay or straight, you love this song. I totally wanted to bone Madonna when I was a teen after seeing this video, and that was before I even knew what it meant to bone someone.

Bright Lights - Matchbox 20 : I think this is a metephor for thinking that the relationship grass is greener. And when you find out it's not better than the stability of a strong partnership, you just come on home. SillyNessa, this one is for you.

Head Over Heels - Tears For Fears : Is there anyone out there that doesn't like this song. I think my mom likes it and she's has no clue who these guys are. This song came out when I was in like 4th or 5th grade, but it still sounds so modern to me. Hooray 80s britpop!

True - Spandau Ballet : I couldn't tell you another song these guys sing, but this one rocks. The brothers that founded the group are even cooler in "The Krays". Hunt that movie down and watch it. Twice.

Sweetest Goodbye - Maroon 5 : I guess it just fits where I'm at right now. I still cannot get sick of this entire album, and I think they haven't released a sophmore effort because the first record was just too good.

Sweet Lullaby - Deep Forest (Ambient Mix) : This song just totally soothes me. And the badass lyrics from the esoteric language of the Solomon Islands is tres cool.

JC in a taxi cab

OK, a few comments about that line in my previous post. 100 points to Gryffindor if you can tell me what movie that line is from.

Oh, the PowerBook came in yesterday. When I order a product over the web, I hit the FedEx tracking site every 37 microseconds to see if my product is indeed any closer to me than it was 37 microseconds ago. Yeah, that one. In Communist China. For some reason the FedEx jet decided to stop in Anchorage, Alaska, and that's the latest destination my PowerBook visited. I'm sure some explanation exists, like Shanghai to Anchorage is shorter due to the curvature of the Earth, or maybe the jet streams make it more efficient for planes to fly in that general direction. Or maybe the pilot just wanted a Klondike bar.

Happy Thanksgiving to all of the Yanks out there!

Yes CricketYank, there is a Macintosh

As some of you know, I have taken a contract porting a Windows application over to Mac OS X. I used to work for Macromedia and did some Mac OS 8/9 and Mac OS X development there, but it's been a while. When I learn a new language, platform or other computer environment, I usually head to the bookstore. But this time, I had to visit no less than 15,000 bookstores in the Dallas-area , only to find out that NO ONE carries hardly any titles for Mac OS X programming. I found a couple of older books on Objective-C, which is a jacked-up hybrid of C and Smalltalk, the latter a computer language that I haven't seen since my 1996 Survey of Programming Languages class in college.

I must say that Apple provides a TON of documentation and sample code to their would-be developers. Unfortunately they run a bit lean on the "type in this basic app from a tutorial" information, which is how I tend to learn new skills. They have a tutorial or 2 for Cocoa, but I haven't found anything recent for Carbon.

FIRST POST!!

WOOHOO!
